01 / THE AUDIT

What the site says.
And what it doesn’t.

Six findings from the live public site on 31 October 2026. Each one is observable, not a matter of taste.

  1. 01

The Events link is a dead end.

The footer sitemap sends visitors to /events.aspx. The server answers HTTP 404.

    High
  2. 02

The intake window is three days — and already past.

The apprenticeship page still says the committee “will be accepting applications” for June 2–4, 2026. No next window or closed status is posted.

    High
  3. 03

The page’s only H1 is a phone number.

The union name and purpose live in H2s. The single <h1> is 1.707.644.4071 in the consultation block.

    Medium
  4. 04

The email looks clickable. It isn’t.

info@local343.org appears in the header and footer, but both links open /contact.aspx. The homepage contains zero mailto: links.

    Medium
  5. 05

Search gets an empty description first.

Two description tags ship; the first is empty. 5 of 7 images have no alt text.

    Medium
  6. 06

    105 contractors, one long list.

The directory carries 105 entries and a 51-item state dropdown. There is a keyword box, but no county or trade filter.

    Low

02 / THE GAP

Three days to apply.
A page that makes you hunt.

11:47 PM · SOLANO COUNTY

A prospective apprentice opens local343.org on a phone. The office number is hidden in the collapsed header. The only intake window on the apprenticeship page is June 2–4, 2026 — already closed — and nothing says when the next one opens.

03 / THE FRONT DOOR

A working front door.

05 / THE PROOF

We’ve done this before.
Here’s the proof.

United Facilities Group asked for a clearer front door. The rebuild replaced a crowded legacy homepage with a direct, mobile-first story. Drag the handle.

United Facilities Group rebuilt homepage: a dark, direct hero with a clear request-a-quote action

BEFORE AFTER
BRANDCORE CASE STUDY · UFGWORKS.COM

What changed

  • One promise above the fold. The rebuilt hero says who UFG is and what it does before the first scroll.
  • Services and locations in the header. The two things a facilities buyer looks for are one click away.
  • One primary action. “Request a quote” replaces a field of competing links.

Real project screenshots, shown as supplied. No performance metric is claimed here. The same discipline applies to Local 343.

07 / THE ENGAGEMENT

Three ways to deploy.
One recommended.

No invented dollar figures. Scope is agreed first; a fixed-fee quote follows a 20-minute scope call.

OPTION 01

The Front Door

For replacing the current site with a clear, mobile-first presence.

  • Page system and navigation
  • Real photos and logo, correctly placed
  • Mobile and keyboard QA
  • Launch and handoff
Fixed-fee quote after scope call
OPTION 03

The Growth Partner

For a site that stays current after launch.

  • Everything in The Apprenticeship Engine
  • Monthly content and notice updates
  • Quarterly path review
  • Priority support from Hector
Fixed-fee quote after scope call

Every option starts with your real logo, photos and facts. Nothing is published without your sign-off. Paid media, photo shoots and a member-portal rebuild are separate scopes.
