Website proposal · October 2026

The food already has the draw. The website still hides it in pictures.

CaCao Mexicatessen runs taquería, cantina and catering from 1576 Colorado Blvd. The site has the right bones: the logo, real photos and a menu for each service. It also has gaps that cost guests time.

01 / Site audit · from the public pages

Six things the site asks a hungry guest to do.

We read the nine pages the site serves publicly, on the day of this proposal. Each finding names where we saw it. Nothing here estimates traffic or sales.

  1. High

    Menus are pictures, not text

Twelve menu images hold the prices. The served pages carry navigation, contact and hours text, with no menu items in text.

    SOURCE · /regular, /happy-hour, /taco-tuesdays, /catering

  2. High

The phone number cannot be tapped

TEL : 323.478.2791 is plain text on all nine pages. The served HTML has zero tel: links.

SOURCE · every page, contact block

  3. High

    Ordering leaves the site

Order Online points to ChowNow and DoorDash. No catering request appears in the served HTML. The one form on each page is the weekly e-mail list.

SOURCE · homepage links and form

  4. Medium

    Hours are written two ways

    Sunday reads “11am - 2pm/ 4 - 8pm” and Sunday Brunch “11am - 2pm”. The happy-hour menu says DAILY 5PM-6PM, but the hours list no Monday.

SOURCE · OPENING HOURS block, happy-hour menu

  5. Medium

    Search cannot read the homepage

No meta description and no H1 in the served HTML. 22 of the 31 homepage images have no alt text.

    SOURCE · homepage HTML

  6. Low

    Leftover page addresses

The main menu lives at /copy-of-menu and the brunch page at /copy-of-catering.

    SOURCE · site navigation links

02 / The gap · illustrative scene

Friday, 9:40 PM. Is the kitchen still open?

The answer is in the contact block at the bottom of the page. The phone number sits beside it as plain text, so the guest copies digits by hand.

Today, as served

  1. Open the homepage.
  2. Scroll past the gallery to the contact block.
  3. Read Fri - Sat 5pm - 10pm.
  4. Copy 323.478.2791 by hand. It is not a tap link.
  5. Menu, then a page, then pinch-zoom a picture to read a price.
  6. Order, which leaves for ChowNow or DoorDash.

Proposed

  1. Open the homepage. The status line reads “Open now, until 10 PM”, or the next opening time.
  2. Tap Call, Menu or Order in the same row.
  3. Read the menu as text, search it, then order or request catering in place.

Steps are counted from the served pages. They are not timed and are not a traffic measurement.

03 / The concept · working prototype

The same restaurant, built to be used on a phone.

  • 01“Open now” or the next opening time, from the hours already published.
  • 02Menus as live text with search. Two sections are transcribed; the rest follow in the 3-day plan.
  • 03Tap-to-call, and a catering planner that prepares a request. It sends nothing.

Illustrative concept. It is not connected to ChowNow, DoorDash or any booking system. Confirm every price against the printed menu before launch.

04 / What Brandcore builds

05 / Proof on your own menu

Before: a picture to zoom into. After: text a phone can search.

A format test on CaCao’s printed Taco Tuesdays menu. It is not a case study, and it cites no client results.

  • 01Same sections, in the printed order.
  • 02Each price is text, so a phone search finds “margarita” or “chorizo”.
  • 03An edit is a text change, not a new picture and a re-upload.

Prices are transcribed from the printed menu. Confirm each one before launch.
